A question regarding meals:  is it necessary or advisable for us to bring our own dishes and eating utensils, as was the case at Fort Hartsuff?

I see that a shotgun will be required for the Expansion Era Match......Is  a Mod 97 required, or would a mod 12 be sufficiently"period correct", since it was available in that time frame?

I am curious ...... will competitors in the "Regular" category of the Expansion Era match  who choose to shoot a revolver (particularly without the aid of half-moon clips) be competing on the same footing as those shooting semi-auto pistols, or is it a separate sub-category?

Since a M'1911 is not really historically appropriate for my Canadian Mounted Infantry and/or South African Constabulary impressions, I have been considering use of a suitable revolver, with which half-moon clips would also be neither appropriate nor possible  .......

My alternative, I guess, would be to compete in the "Volunteer" category, although that requires me to use the Magazine Lee-Enfield rifle, rather than the Short Magazine Lee-Enfield I had hoped to use this year ....

Fraid theres no sub catagory Jack, as you say, they're all on the same footing.  But Jack, there's no  rifle magazine  limitations either.   I suspect  whatever  time  you  lose with  the  revolver, you can  make up for with the SMLE.   :D

Good point!     And I've never been what you could call a 'speed demon'' anyway .... especially with handguns .....   :-\

Of course, yet another possibility for rifle would be my Mark III (Model 1910) Ross!   Decisions ..... decisions ....   ::)

:'( Well it's finally official. I won't be able to attend the 2010 Grand Muster.  :'(

Found out late Friday that next week I'll be taking my striker, J.Dawg to Minneapolis for heart surgery.

Now while that's not something a parent looks forward to doing, it isn't as bad as it sounds. This will be the second one he's had and it should be the last. When he was a 15 year old freshman in high school we found out that he has Wolfe-Parkinsons and White syndrome which is where the heart short-circuits causing it to beat too fast. He had surgery to kill the extra "spark plug wires" that caused the short circuit. During the surgery the doctors found out that his heart had not one, but 2 extra wires. The second one was too close to the "good wire" for them to attempt to kill it. This took place on the 18th of March that year and on April 2nd he won the first of his varsity track medals and on May 20th he competed in the state track meet the first time. He is now in his senior year of eligibility in the track program at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.  Early this year (the first 2 practices) he had a couple of heart episodes. Doctors increased the dose of his medicine and he's been fine since, but they also felt it was time that with the improved technology and techniques he should have surgery to remove the second "bad spark plug wire". This is something we had always planned to do but didn't think it would be this soon. The up side is that after the surgery he shouldn't ever need the medication again...and since he's a full time student he's still covered by my insurance. The down side is that I can't very well take half a week off each of the next 2 weeks. If this were in the summer it wouldn't be a big deal but I can't take the time during the school year.

I'll be thinking of you guys.
