Can anyone suggest a good source for field uniform trousers of the late 1890's and early 1900's? One that has a reasonably timely
delivery and affordable? The Two principal vendors that I have seen seem to think that all re-enactors are wealthy! Also a source for afforable officer's boots that aren't civil war style? Things are difficult for those of us in Los Angeles, resource wise.

Another possible option here:  As a full Colonel, assigned to staff, you wear dark blue trousers with no stripe.  Find a pair of dress wool pants that match your blouse.
Civilize them with a Krag . . .

For boots, you might try a pair of black Wellingtons.  Since you won't be tucking the trowsers (sic) into the tops, they will do quite nicely (provided you aren't trying to fit a set of orthodics into boots sized before you needed the inserts!  :'(   Gotta get me a new pair, soon!
Ride to the sound of the guns, but watch out for bushwhackers! Godspeed to all in harm's way in the defense of Freedom! God Bless America!

If you can find a pair of East German army boots they provide a similar look and the last ones I bought were about $25. (I wear them to kick around the farm) The soles, of course, aren't correct and the toe is a little too round, but they are somewhere to start until you can afford better.
