Howdy all. How about posting pics of your personal vintage holsters and gear, and maybe getting a little CasCity Packing Iron page going?
Put a short little blurp describing it, and see what kind of resource we come up with! It should be great for ideas, and will get some of that moldy leather out into the sun to dry while you take pics.

Lets try to keep it to original items, and not stuff we made. We have the Show your stuff page for that.

Alrighty, heres the few original items I have. The pics were all I could do, with what I had available to me today.
The saddle is a Wilson Saddlery - Denver, the cuffs are a pair I picked up at a garage sale for a few bucks many years before I did SASS or leather, and the holster is the one I recreated here a few months back.

I have quite a number, myself - but I'd hate to see them replicated.

For me, 'Packing Iron' fills the bill.

Good Luck!

Here are a couple of original rigs in my collection.  The first one is an F. A. Meanea, Cheyenne with matching money cartridge belt for a 4 3/4" Colt in .44 caliber.  The second rig is a J.S. Collins outfit.  The holster is  marked with the Miles City, M.T. shop cartouche and fits a 5 1/2" Colt.  The matching .45 caliber Collins money belt has the cartouche from their shop in Cheyenne.

Wonderful idea! I make all my own gunleather and, while I do search on line for ideas, I would never exactly reproduce an example. One reason, it is extremely difficult. Also, when you make your own, you tend to personalize intentionally or not.
The first step of becoming a good shooter is knowing which end the bullet comes out of and being on the other end.

Welcome to the forum, Drayton. When you get a chance, post a few pics of your work. It's always nice to see other pards' work.

This weekend's garage and estate sales just yielded a floral-carved, Elk-laced Mexican Loop holster for a 5 1/2" Colt Single Action Army.

Made by Heiser around 1910...
