Two Flints

Hello SSS,

I received the following Email from SSS member Arizona Trooper, aka Tony Beck ::):

Two Flints,

I was up in DC a couple weeks ago doing tourist stuff, and discovered that the Smithsonian Museum of American History has on display a Spencer rifle attributed to the Spencer-Lincoln target shooting session of early 1864. It was unknown when Roy Marcot did his book and there is no documentation on the display explaining how it resurfaced. Unfortunately, the way it is displayed, the serial number is not visible. The rifle is a standard M-1860 Army with the exception that the stock appears to have been varnished.

Attached is the photo I was able to get. It's a 500K file and I didn't want to trim it down anymore figuring that folks would want to be able to blow it up as much as possible.

Best regards,
