I just traded for another Open Top yesterday and was surprised by the difference the that importer make in the same firearm. Both are Uberti's but the Cimarron is much slicker right out of the box. Not a big problem in correcting it, it's just that the two are world's apart in feel.

Anyhow, I'm just glad to add another open top revolver to the stable.

A Uberti is a Uberti.  Importer makes no difference.  I have gotten several open tops from both importers and several with sequential serial numbers.  The guns vary greatly from gun to gun.

I have to agree with Pettifogger.  The differences you see/feel are not the result of the importer.  Just the day they were made and who the assembly tech was.  As many Open Tops as I have been thru, it's just a matter of luck.
Have fun with 'em!!

Bought a Richard Mason couple of months ago and was Cimarron.  Could not be more pleased with the fit and finish as well as shooting.  Thought great value and brought my impression of Cimarron up.  Cimarron may be no better than others but for now I stick with them on this type of reproduction.

I bought a 72 Open Top from Cimarron several years ago, sent it back due to three defects on finish/metal work fit. They wanted to fix and send back, I said 'no', quoted their advertising that the extra dollars ya spend over other distributors is for extra fit and finish, advised them send to new one or refund-got a new one. I've bought cap an' balls from both Taylors and Cimarron-not a 'dimes' difference in finish or function.  I asked a well known writer in a well known 'cowboy shooting' type magazine that every one of ya would know if there was any difference between Taylors and Cimarrons Uberti products,  his reply was a simple "No". Could babble on more, but enough said.

I can't comment on the Taylor version but my Cimmaron is great.  I have had no problems with it.  Fit and finish was superb.
