I have an 1866 coming that accidentally has some knockout wood and is just begging to have the brass receiver engraved.  Hence my search for a good engraver.

Thus my inquiry.

Will Ketchum

I suggest Jim Downing of Missouri.  He is nearly always at the NCOWS convention and does great work.  His web site is

www.thegunengraver.com   He advertises in The Shootist.  He did my 73.

Got to agree with Will.  Jim has done all of my engraving and he may not be the best but he sure is a heck of a lot better that the guy who is.  His prices are reasonable too and in this economy (if you believe the Gov't) that counts for alot.
