Do the .36 and .44 barrels have the same thread (Pietta)?  Do the .36 and .44 Pietta revolvers use the same frame?  I am wanting to convert a Pietta Remington to .41 Colt, and want to use the heaviest frame possible.  If the .44 uses a larger frame and will accept a .36 barrel I can make a new cylinder which I hope would result in more metal between the cylinder bores.  Please help me out pards............does any of this make any sense?  As an end result I would like to have a .41 Colt conversion that would tolerate a bit more punch than a standard black powder load.

Both Pietta and Uberti use the 44 frame for both calibers.  The barrel threads are the same for each caliber, the 36 barrel is shorter.  Are you making a heel based 41 Colt?  With the 401 bore, you could chamber 38-40 for a better round..

I was thinking about using the newer .41 Colt with a standard .36 barrel.  I have made a lot of other conversions and would like to try something different.  I am open to any suggestion.  What problems would I run into with the 38-40?

I have a 41 Colt reamer which is ground to ream 38 Colt chambered conversion cylinders to 41 Colt.
Contact me and I will discuss the details with you (shoots very well and uses the inside lubed bullet).

Sounds like an interesting project.   Not one I'm interested in for my self though.  Keep posting progress as it develops . . .  :)

Good shootin', . . . .  :)

The "36" percussion barrel would not have a .401 bore..........it would be somewhere around .386 precluding the use of heel base bullets.

I have done about a dozen of these for myself, Walt kirst and our buddy Raven (Jay Strite). Mostly on Colt '51 Navy's but I also have one on a Uberti Remington Navy sized pistol and it works superbly!

My reamer is ground so that a 41 Colt with a heel base bullet will not chamber..........
