Guess it was my turn to be lucky - a fella brought me some handguns to ship, and among them was an older EMF Uberti 1875 in pretty decent shape. Well cared for. Talked him into selling it to me instead of shipping to another dealer as a trade item. Got it for $245.00 - I thought that was reasonable. Caliber is 44-40, which is what I wanted, so I couldn't resist.

Is there a way to date these guns by serial #? Just curious how old it is.....no date code that I could find like the BP pistols.

Good catch  ;D
Good price and a great caliber. Long barrels to.

I have a 75 and a 90, both have the date code box on the bottom of the frame in front of the triggerguard.

You got a good price on it. I bought a used one a couple of months ago in 44.40. I have another in 45 Colt.

Sounds like you got a deal!  I have 2 '75's in .44WCF with long barrels and I really like 'em.  Haven't had any hand spring breakage either, altho I have a couple of spares from VTI on hand.  Polishing the cylinder pin helped mine run better with black powder loads.  They like MAV-D Big Lube bullets, too.

This is what is in front of the trigger guard. Maybe someone here can decipher it? I still cannot find a dating symbol or letters anywhere....

Hope you have fun with the new shooter!  ;D

I have never seen stampings like those......you sure got a great DEAL though !!!

I have a stamping similar to that, but I never could get it magnified enough to see. But it is some kind of stamped coat of arms with a wreath/star/etc on top of it.

The sad news is that this is on a .44 Cal Pietta 1851

Mine also has a square with a B1 inside of it and a PN with a wreath on top of that ... both on the right frame below the cylinder and on the aft of the right barrell.

Serial # is E 57XXX .
