Crossdraw versus weakside

I shoot duelist and occasionally wrangler.  I have tried crossdraw holsters and weakside setups with a left-to-right transfer (weak to strong).  I see that both have pros and cons. 

I am interested in getting other shooters' opinions about why they shoot crossdraw or opt to pull that hogleg with the weak hand (from a weakside holster) and transfer it to their strong hand.

I shot Double Duelist for 9 years and now Gunfighter. I figure that taking time to do the croosdraw dance or swapping the gun from hand to hand was just extra time. Knowing how to shoot with the 'off' hand is a nice thing to know anyway.

For a one-hand duelist, crossdraw works.  If the stage is not contradicting it, shoot the crossdraw first, Take the gun from the strong hand with the "dumb hand", (reach in ang graeb it by looping the weak hand over the top of the frame as soon as it is dry) then draw the second pistol while re-holstering the crossdraw using the dumb hand.  If ya miss the bucket, just hold it safely beside the holster while shooting the second gun.

I shoot senior gunfighter ... and the first time I shot gunfighter with the rig as it was designed to be, the RO  took me aside and said, 'No, no. no.no!" or something to that matter.

So I turned the whole belt 180, and shoot them 'strong side weak side'. Only now the buckle is in front and the holsters are 180 of their intended position ... and it still works fine ...

Tom, I have gone back to the cross draw for medical reasons....Can't raise my left shoulder high enough to draw the weak side without additional pain .  I do have a strong/weak rig, but it is a Buscadero rig which lowers the holsters a good 4" or more so I don't have to lift the gun as high on the draw.  AJ has the crossdraw method down pretty good in his description.  When I start, it is with the crossdraw and I am angled to the firing line with no need to "dance"  It is just a matter of being flexible in your shooting positions.

If you're built like me you have to draw double strong side and pass off the left hand gun to shoot right handed.  No one has arms long enough to get to a cross draw past my belly.

ya that the ticket. we both stand on the line and I reach acrosst and draw yer gun and hand it to ya.....what do ya think?

I think you ought to get a hobby.  Yer spending too much time thinking about things like this and it'll warp yer brain...some more.
