Derringers and clay birds? That's cruel, Cole, to have these kinds of fun stages while I'm still recovering from my bulging disk and can't make it!

Kevin:

i assume you are off work with your bulging disk.  This explains why you have had time to think up so much stuff.  Hope your recovery is swift so you can stop thinking and start doing.

I was off part of last week and all of the week before. This week I've been working partial days - coming in late and leaving early so I don't have to drive during rush hour. I've definitely improved.

I've cleared it with my Dr. so I can shoot my revolver at the local range this weekend. Even though I'm *much* better I'm not going to subject my back to the stress of the long drive and then dealing with the balance and movement issues involved in shooting a rifle. I'm looking at next weekend in Tyler for that, although we'll see how things stand before we make a final decision.

Yes, I'm ready to do! I've got two different cousins in Tyler who who want to check things out. One already bought a steel framed Remington NMA and has started researching to develop a persona. He'd visited when I shot at the Tyler Peacemakers' Inaugural Shoot in February. The only problem is that he's gotten so excited about it that he 'jumped the gun' and joined the first CAS association he saw listed at the Peacemaker's web site. It was SASS. He told me after the fact and I re-described the differences between SASS and NCOWS. I told him don't worry about it, just come out and shoot with us. I'm sure he'll join NCOWS eventually. The other has some very cool Texas heritage family ties and has been looking for a place near Tyler to shoot, so I think we've got good odds on him eventually joining as well. I want to do; I want to enjoy this with pards and family!

Kevin:

Sure hope you get to feeling better. I've got two fused discs in my neck and a bulging disc in my lower back, so I feel for you, pard. Know that you are welcome as is your family anytime at Tyler. We look forward to all of you. Hopefully, this weather will continue and we will have two beautiful weekends of shooting. Take care, and God Bless and keep you.

As I said, I'm already *much* better. I'm actually in that dangerous place where I risk forgetting that something's wrong (because everything feels 98% right), and then I forget to be cautious. Over the last couple of weeks I messed myself up twice by over-exerting myself. The last time was over a week and a half ago, and I finally learned my lesson and I've been very careful since then. It's kind of driving me nuts because there's so much I want to do, but I don't want to feel that kind of pain again. I took the video Pancho shot of me with my iPhone camera and showed it to my doctor so he knows exactly what kind of motions I'm referring to as we evaluate things.

I promise when I shoot again I will be extremely careful not to rush my movements. This looks like a great time to really focus on having my first Clean Match instead of trying to avoid last place.

I do appreciate ya'lls concern.
