In the .44-40, 21 grains of FFFg with cream of wheat to top it up gives about 700 fps in my Vaqueros with the RCBS 44-200-FP.

12 gauge loaded with about 55 to 60 grains of FFg and 7/8 to 1 oz of shot works for most CAS targets.

Switching to 165 grain 44Slim bullets will help cut recoil also. I noticed a difference in my Opentops. ffg instead of fffg helps too. Never used any subs but some of them are more powerful than the real thing.

Red, with reference to Triple 7 powder, you should read the loading data details on the Hodgdon website ...

I've found a 7/8 oz Lee shot dipper of Pyrodex under the same dipper full of shot works very well, and light recoil.  I've used it in everything from 20 gauge to 10 gauge.  Goex would be very similar.

You'll have to play with column length to get a good crimp.  The load I'm using currently is a 1oz Lee shot dipper of Pyro, and Winchester Red Wad (which I've heard they don't make anymore) and the same dipper of shot.  It will fill most 12 gauge hulls to just the right depth.

For the least amount of recoil, go with American Pioneer.  At least it produces the lowest velocities amongst the real stuff and the other subs equivalent loads from the tests I've read and done.  But I'm not sure if you can use filler on top of APP, you'll have to check that out.

Good shootin' to your daughter and you.  SASS, and all other shooting sports, need all the kids it can get.

Howdy Red, great to hear your daughter is ready for the Dark Side, I'm shore you're a proud dad. Like Slim said, for pistols the 44Slim and ffg will help, and a little cream of wheat for the rifle. My advice would be to stick with BP also. For the shotgun, here are a few reduced loads I use when my gal shoots BP. Good Luck
1 1/8oz shot, Rem SP12 wad,50gr ffg.
1oz shot with Rem RXP12 wad-45gr ffg.
3/4oz shot with Win Pink wad-46gr ffg (Heather's favorite) Loads may need to be adjusted a few grains depending on brand of powder. I use Shuetzen, so I think with Goex reduce 2gr for the same colunm height.

Had my G'daughter shooting for a while & she used my 12 ga loads as follows:
1oz shot- grey ww wad- 27gr 3f schuetzen used a #24 MEC powder bushing.  If she is 13 or under the KD don't have to go down to count, but this load did anyway.  She used a .38 rifle & .38 Gouchos loaded down with real BP.  She did right well for a 13yr old.  2nd place at WR 08 & 09. :o
