Beautiful Colts, tell me more about that Birdshead. Did Colt make it like that? Is it a 3rd gen?

St. George

To the best of my knowledge - and a call to the Custom Shop - Colt doesn't make a birdshead grip for the Single Action Army.

Grip frames are easy enough to change out

As for me guns, I will not own a gun I can't shoot and if I'm gonna shoot it I ought to set it up like I want it.

That´s fine & dandy, however CAS does not always allow that.  ;)

The Birdshead came from the custom shop.
Options as listed on the end of box.

3 1/2Barrel.
38-40
Birdshead Grip
Buffalso Horn Grips

ALL are factory options through the Colt Custom Shop.

Words of wisdom Appalachian Ed! May caution favor the wallet.
A work in progress.

If they allow sub-sized frame, lowered hammer, short stoke Colt clones why wouldn't they allow this gun?

It's getting to where CAS will allow nearly anything short of belt fed full-auto.

I have always liked Colt's since I was a kid. I handled my first when I was just 10 years old and Montana was celebrating the territorial centennial. Colt had made 850 of these fine Colt SAA in .45 Colt. I had to have one. Since then I did get one of the Centennial models along with a number of other Colt's including:

7 SAA's in 38-40, 44-40 and 45 Colt, 4 first Gen.
2 Colt lightning first model rifles in 38-40, 44-40
1 Colt model 1878 Hammer SXS shotgun
1 1911 Commercial Model made in 1917
1 Colt Officer's Model Match .22
1 Colt Police Positive .38

More to come, as I can afford them.

I never considered myself a failure...I started out at the bottom and happen to like it here!
