Garry James has a very well written article about the S&W No.3 Russian in the May issue of Guns & Ammo.  Lots of nice pictures as well.

Read it last night - pretty informative article with some good info for those of us unfamiliar with these fine pistols. First time I saw one (non-Russian model) was in the movie 3:10 to Yuma - was intrigued ever since.

I just bought a used blue Navy Arms Russian yesterday.

Feels great.  Hope to do some blasting this weekend if I can find some fodder.

kcub,

You might try these guys: http://shop.cccammo.com/

They were at the Gun Show in Austin last month, and had 3 boxes of Russians for about $18 per box...that's a GREAT deal!  If I had a Russian, I would've bought 'em myself!

That's great!  Enjoy shooting that fine revolver!  And go out and get yourself a copy of "Conagher" if you don't already have one.  Sam Elliot's character, Con Conagher, carries a Second Model Russian in the movie...not much differnt from your 3rd Model.

Well I went and shot it today and had way lots of fun!  ;D

Those .44 Russians have darn little recoil in the Navy Arms Russian; about like a .38 special.

I bought a case of peach Fresca at the grocery store which turned out to suck.
But that turned out to be a good thing today because I shook 'em up and blasted them all to smithereens.

Now the .44 Russian and the .38 specials out of my Uberti 5" nickel & pearl Schofield did just fine against the miscreant Frescas but nothing like my pocket Ruger SP101 in .357 magnum.  The .357 dramatically turned the Frescas into flat inside out sheets of aluminum.  That's my new concealed carry gun now, I never thought I'd find a trump to my Kahr PM9.

The Russians sights are not nearly as good as the Schofield's, but I still love the gun.  All 3 shot very close to point of aim which was a pleasant discovery.  The Schofield was about an inch low with 130 grain metal case which should put it dead on with heavier 158 grain ammo.

What an awesome Saturday afternoon, enjoying the bluebonnets and shooting some right excellent revolvers!
