It doesn't say if the brand is going away.   I wonder if they'll still make rifles overseas under their brand, or just shut down all together.

I hope it doesn't go the way of the Winchester. That would be sad news indeed.
A work in progress.

The article mentions that Marlin's headquarters is in North Carolina.  Perhaps they're headed South to where the C-O-L is somewhat lower.

From what I have been hearing in the manufacturing business, the Carolinas are the new hot spots to be for businesses.

This could be a good thing.

I hate to see any arms maker close their doors, thay are a useful part of the industrial base...as well as producing some of our favorite toys, thay contribute to national defence in somethimes subtle ways. I hope they stick around somewhere.

Incidently, I was at a subcontractor (firearms parts) plant in N.C. just last fall...not related to Marlin, tho.

Slim

I understand from a friend of mine some or all of the operation may be moving to Madison NC, northwest of Greensboro, about 35 miles from my house. It is sad when these operations move from their ancestral home but such is the climate in Ct. I finally moved/transferred in 1993.
