Well, I guess thats the way I will go the next time I buy leather. Its hell to have a piece not turn out right after you put in a lot of work on it.
That looks great Cowboy.
Lost..... I ain't never been lost...... fearsome confused fer a month er two once... but I never been lost.

The carving looks awesome Cowboy! I checked out W&C's website. There tooling leather is available in black! Interesting. The Russet you have there is neat. Wander what that will look like once dyed? Are you gonna try a sample piece with the different dyes Cowboy? Be interested to see how it takes dyes it bein a Russet color already. No doubt it would look good oiled. Pretty neat! Looks great, keep us posted!

Good stuff, C316.

The piece I sent Cowboy 316 is from their lowest quality grade, but it's still real nice leather. I bought a side for a good price on sale, and it did not cost any more than Tandy's mid priced stuff, including the shipping clear out to Oregon from Pennsylvania.

Kid Terico is the man to talk to about their leather; he has lots of experience with it and them.

Tim, you're doing real nice work there, keep it up!

Howdy,

It do carve nice don't it.

I use only W&C anymore, too much inconsistency for carving and dyeing with the local LF stuff here. It really isn't anymore expensive even with shipping. Never been disappointed with any W&C leather.

GunClick Rick,

I was told 40-odd years ago it was because the tooling compressed the leather and made it more durable. Especially in the case of saddles and tack.  ??? Makes sense to a point.
