Tomorrow is the first day of registration for the spring 2010 GAF Postal Shoot. This postal shoot marks the beginning of a new era in the GAF. After nearly 2 years of refining the updated regulations for the postal shoot we are finally ready to put them to use. Among the differences yoou will see when you visit the competition page are:

Rifles will now be shot from 50 feet (13.5 yds) this will allow most rifles to use a 100 yd. sight setting with no hold under.
Smaller targets. The A target will be shot standing. The B target (printed on legal size paper)will be shot kneeling and sitting. And the C target will be shot prone.
Fewer weapons will be eligible for use in the postal shoots. This change reflects the GAF's increased emphasis on the military weapons of the Victorian era.

In the past I've waived the registration fees for anyone completing the registration and printing the targets temselves. This year I won't be able to waive the registration fee. I will be using the fees collected to purchase steel to be used for targets specifically for the GAF. These targets will be scaled down copies of the US Army M-1885 Blunt silhouette targets. While these targets will reside at my home they will belong to the GAF and will be available for use at any GAF shoot.

Your pardon sir, but where does one obtain the registration form? I checked the GAF site, got the targets, but didn't see a reg form.

I need the answer to the same question, Sir!

Sorry Guys
This has been a heck of a week.

Thanks for pointing out that there isn't a registration form. I'll work on correcting that. Frankly up until now it was never a problem because I alway waived the registration fee so people just sent me an e-mail and that was good enough. With charging a registration fee, at some point I will need to produce a registration form. For now just send me your name, alias, GAF membershjp number, address, the make and model of the weapons you want to shoot in the match and the regsitration fee. My address is below my avitat.

Colonel,
What ranges do the various targets represent?  Thanks!

I believe A= 100-200, B=400-500 and C=600-800 yds. I'll try and check and get you a more definative answer later.

 ???
Is the NEW approved firearms list on the GAF site?  Handguns, too?
I don't reckon I can use my 1898 Mauser now, can I?   :o :o :o :o :o heheheh

I don't get in on all of them postals these days with the current schedule.
I never saw a post of how the Fall 2009 Postals tallied up.  I did shoot that one.

Officially yes it was April 30. However since I want to see particiapation (and I didn't get your question answered in a timely fashion) I will allow registration to accompany targets this time.

Gregg I never did receive your targets. I kept thinking they'd eventually show up but they never did. The only tragets I received were from Freeda B. Mee and Dalton Masterson and I inofrmed them of their scores but I don't think I kept a record of them.

Ned I dug out my dog-eared copy of An Army of Marksmen and I found that the "A" target represents 100-200 yds. The "B" target represents 300-400 yds. And the "C" target represents 500-600 yds
