Anyone know what color badge the XIV Corps used to designate the 4th Division? I know that 1st, 2nd, and 3rd were standardized (red, white, and blue respectively). When it comes to 4th and up I've found no standardization. Of the ones I can find references, I've seen orange, yellow, and green --with green being the most common among the ones that I've found.
Wilder's Brigade was with the 1st Bde, 4th Division of the XIV Corps and I'm trying to find what color 'acorn' would've been authorised for his brigade.
On the side, does the reenacting community have a standard color to designate the 4th division of a Corps? Or do they even bother going that high?

knightmare,

Do these links help?

http://www.carnegiecarnegie.com/gar/141-150.htm  (scroll down to the 25th corps)

Do a Google search using - Wilson's Corps Insignia - as your search input.  The list seems endless.  IT may provide the answers you're looking for.  Please post any information you find that you think would be of interest to the membership ;D ;D

While not listed officially, the standard color for the 4th Division would have been Yellow, as with XV Corps.
This is problematic though - The 'official' adoption of the Acorn wasn't until April, 1864, and I'm not clear where Wilder's Brigade was assigned at that time (Winter 1863-4).

This link has a nice Spencer diagram in it:

Thanks guys!
Bead Swinger- Not positive but I believe Wilder's brigade was with the 4th Div, XIV Corps at that time. I'll need to re-examine the timeline to be sure. But the 'standard' color for the 4th division would have been yellow --great! Thanks a lot! BTW Do we know whether or not the XIV Corp followed the standards? Is there any way to know for sure?

Researching history is exciting to the mind and soothing to the soul... pass the Tums!!!
