 ???

So I'm back. It's been a year since I darkened these doors.  ( I forgot my password )
I'm going to start shooting SASS and I've already got twp Rooger Vaqs in 45 cal. I really want a Henry and a friend has an 1860 in 44-40.
Now I would really like the same cal as my pistols but he is offering the Henry for what he got her for 800.00.
Do you think that's a good enough deal to deal with the frustration of loading two different cals ? ::)
Wa da ya think ?

Yes.
People like me are the reason people like you have the right to bitch about people like me.

What frustration???

All my Cowboy pistols are 45 Colt, all my cowboy rifles are 44-40. What's the problem?
That's bad business! How long do you think I'd stay in operation if it cost me money every time I pulled a job? If he'd pay me that much to stop robbing him, I'd stop robbing him.

Ya probably inherited every penny ya got!

I say that's a good price.  If mixing up the 2 calibers is your concern (there is an incident of a Texas Ranger jamming his 73 when he tried to load a 45 Colt in it) you can do as I have done and color the primers with different colors.  I used a blue sharpie on my 44-40s and left the 45s uncolored.

When I go to the loading table I always separate and count out my rounds.  Say the stage calls for to revolvers with 5 rounds each and the rifle 9 rounds.  I put the revolver rounds in 2 rows of 5 each and the rifle in rows of 3.  That way the RO at the loading table can see I have the proper amount of rounds and I can make sure I have them separated correctly.

;D  Well I shot my first SASS shoot last sunday.  I had a great time . The people were great and very helpfull. They even fed me :o.   Most folks shooting .45's and a lot shooting .38's.    I think even if I one day get a "66" I'll get it in .45 cal. But I will still always want an 1860. So having another caliber ( 44-40 ) for a gun that I might not be shooting every match won't be bad.  Oh hell..... theres nothing bad about it.
I just got to thinking about it again cause a few folks were saying  I should consider .38's if Im going to be shooting a lot or if I was going for speed over being historically accurate. But I think I can do both.
Of course for now Im shooting a .......Deep Breath.......HRA  Big Boy in 357.      Yeah I got gotten a couple years ago. Thought I was getting a piece of American  heritage . It is made in America and put together very well  and shoots well. But ....... well everybody here knows all the rest of the story....
So I am going to do my best to get a historically  accurate Henry.
A few folks did ask me why I got the HRA and I told them and they were very polite about it. Cause I m a new shooter I suppose.
