I like the looks of them toy  ortas, but man they want a fortune for em. but I would like to have one 4 wheel drive, 4 door, to run to town in,  we got the 2500 Dodge with Diesel, it's gets about 20 mpg, but we don't go too much so I guess we'll just stick with it for awhile.

My car will be paid off in April.  I will be looking for a truck as well.

I'm wishin' I had a place to work on my 53 Dodge pick-up that I got from Grandpa, now that would be a good one fer me and the dog to drive round in, we couldn't get in much trouble cause top speed ain't much over 50.................................................................................Unless we put a different driveline in it. ;D

ya wouldn't have to be going fast, if ya had it restored, you'd look good going slow. ;D

Yah, but it takes ferever to get any where, a Red Ram with a modern 5 speed and some taller rear gears would be kinda neat.  But the ol' 85 HP flathead in low gear will pull fer ever, I think the rear is like 5 sumthin' .

I had a friend that had a 52 International pickup, it had rear gears like that, you could almost walk as fast as it was going until ya got up in 3rd gear.

Well I'll just stick with my 17 yr. old Jeep Commanche, 4.0 6cyl, 5 sp manual, and I get 28 per gal........I've seen many newer trucks that look prettier but can't compete.

Coop, you must have the only one in the country still running

I  see Toyota has brought back the Land Cruiser, they nothing like the old ones, they are too sporty. I use to pull a old 2 horse trailer with one, not fast but steadly down the road. Could take the top off in good weather and put the bonnet in the back and have a good time with it. Went anywhere, like the Jeep Commanche got 20 plus miles to the gallon. Chevy and AMC parts could subsitute the Toyata parts. If all else failed you bought a junker for $50 and robbed the parts you needed for another year.

The old Toyota Land Crusier used a 292 GMC pick-up in-line six made under license in Japan.  Small bore long stroke like my 300 in my pick-up. lots of torque on the low end where needed it a vee-hick-le of this kind.  Folks with less smarts took those out and put in a Chevy V8 for more power. ::)

they have a rock climbing contest's  over here about 5 miles from the house,  The Cass Rock Climb, all kinds of veheciles  it's been on the outdoor channel more than once.

they's a few folks around here, got Jeeps, land cruisers,  for climbing, sometimes it's hard to believe what they can get them things over and through,  some of em got the big engines in and some the stock engines, with the right gearing and tires, the old 4 cylinders seem to do the best, they just crawl  real slow over the rocks,  course a few always turn over or fall off a rock and have to be winched out or turned back on thier wheels.

Anyone taken a look at the stickers on Land Cruisers?  I might pay that for two of 'em if I was in the market for that type vehicle.  Looked at one not long ago at the Toyota store.  Sixty three thousand dollars.  They can keep 'em.

Gave my new Mercury to Pleazin' not long after we were married.  Bought me a wrecked '65 Ford pick up.  Had the frame horn (left) straightened 'n bought the front end body werk off a totaled '64 (so, the grill didn't match).  I did salvage the 'Twin I-Beam' emblems 'n stuck 'em back on.

Hated Aunty Em's Falcon six cylinder in it.  They hadn't punched 'em out to 300 cid back then.  Bought a 302 out of a totaled '73 Torino from Al Rudd's Used Auto Parts.  Yep, Ricky Rudd's daddy.  He 'n my daddy raced against one another in the fifties.  He always did me right on stuff.

Warmed it up a touch (I've still got the intake around here somewhere – put the stock stuff back before I sold it) 'n stuck that in there.  Exhaust was all messed up 'n wound up with a cheap set of adapter headers from J.C. Whitney 'n the rest was made up of clamps 'n off the shelf mandrel bends – damn it was ugly but it sounded good.

Left the factory gear in it.  When it was good 'n dry, 'n I had a little weight in the back, you could pop the clutch 'n counter rotate the Earth if she hooked up.  Once she gave a little chirp she'd just sit there 'n spin.

Man, I'd love to have the inspiration to do something like build that truck again.  Really need to get to work on the Thunderbird.  At least clean it up and get it running.  Just seems like there's always something else to do..................

Arcey, I use to like Motorcycle (Bonnevilles) like that, spent all my extra cash and time on them.....Don't miss 'em.. I figgered the new Land Cruiser was up there, didn't think it wanted to compete in price with Hummer but they are. I'd bet they ain't half the vechile the old ones were. As far as work ability. Heck my first 2 house didn't cost that much

Arcey, the 300 Six is a different anny-mule that the little six they put in Falcoons and Musk-rats.  They borrowed this one from the Ford Tractor division.  It's the old  long stroke narrow bore design, made for low end power.  Course at one time the Ford Tractor Division used Model T engines (Fordson) and a Flat Head V8 sawed in half (Ford-Ferguson and 8-N)

Those 300's could really pull. Probably have more torque than the 4.2 V-6 in my current F-truck. Plus with decent service, they run for a long time.............Buck 8) ;)
