Will, You are right. The winter weather is always unpredictable.  My wife is a teacher also, and my wedding anniversary is in March. I have never attended a Convention so, I'm coming this year.

We could have the convention in Texas in February.  Then there would be absoulutely no chance of snow or bad weather. ;)

Well, wherever it is, I sure hope we can have the premiere showing of O.C.B.'s video tome on the Buffler Hunt as the featured item! Now that would be a hit, a seminar on the making-of, etc., and then a viewing, then a chance to buy a signed copy of same! Who could ask for anything more?!
Best regards and good viewing!

Old Gabe....

Thats a possibility if we get it finished by that time...You guys ought to go to the NCOWS closed forum...I've got the Native American actors that have committed to our film photos posted there.

We have been long overdue to have a real winter in our part of Texas for a long time. It snows a lot in the Panhandle, that's the main reason I live in D/FW. I hate cold weather and snow.

If it snows here (N. Texas) tonight and tomorrow as expected we may set a record for the most snow ever recorded during a winter. That said, it's been 30 years since we've come anywhere near this much, so we should be good for conventions until around 2040.

Texas Lawdog

Kevin, That being said, I'll be about 94 by then. I may need some help getting around.

Just for the sake of discussion...
Historically the Convention has been held during the Winter months to tide everyone over to Spring events, sort of like the Sports Shows that appear every Feb. & Mar., something to look forward to attending when there ain't nothing much else going on and you've got Cabin Fever and some loose change burning a whole in your pocket.
For my money, and I have suggested it in the past to slim interest, have the Convention, Show & Sale the same week as the National Shoot, run the Shoot the first part of the week and the Convention, etc. the last few days leaving Sunday for travel. No matter where the National Shoot is there is a large meeting center close by and it would potentially bring in more members as it would be held during the mid-Summer months and not conflict with any School breaks, ending or starting days. I think it is doable and should be considered in the future, with $ tight and travel $ slim it makes a lot of sense to combine the two.
Best regards and give it some thought!

Us Ol' retired folks, like me, don't have a problem of work or kids coming into the mix, but for others, it would be a problem.

Another question that came up last night, is there a concession stand 'in' the Show area or do we need to bring our own goodies and drinks?
Best regards and good munching!

The hotel resteraunt will have sandwiches, chips & pop right out side the exhibition hall in the lobby.
[And there is a McDonalds a couple blocks away.]

The food at the hall isn't the best but not too expensive.  Hot dogs, burgers chips, nachos and so on.  but at least you can grab a bite and not miss out on anything. ;D

Remember in Febuary this year we had 15 inches of snow in the DFW Area.  Admittedly that is not normal but it happens.
