Bunch a ole scudders!

Professor Marvel

No offense to Monisuer Gap, but
"Would like to trade for a full stock 50 cal rifle or 62 cal fowler."
it would seem to this humble scribbler he has an overly optimistic view of the value of his brass framed "buffalo remmy"
I myself have been looking for  .62 fowler for under $500 for over a Lustrum.

Forty Rod

People like me are the reason people like you have the right to bitch about people like me.

Dusty Morningwood

Probably depends on the make of the rifle or fowler.   ;)

I agree.  There's lots of .50 calibers out there that are in the ballpark, especially used.  Most muzzleloaders, even in great shape don't bring big money used.  But a .62 fowler?  I've never seen one that really fits that description that was close, used, or especially new.  On the other hand I've only seen a couple of .62 fowlers in person, and they were custom jobs that were in the $500 to $600 range 15 years ago.  I wouldn't mind one myself.  In the meantime I'm fairly happy with my New Englander 12 gauge. Still, I sure wish you luck.

Oh My Stars And Garters! **

That color representation of Monsieur Forty Rod is absolutely amazing, he displays himself with Great Dignity and Decorum, looking positively , dare I say it, Professorial in his Sartorial Splendore! By Gum He is so resplendant I would almost certainly Vote for him, perhaps several times, should he decide to run!

regarding inflation and finding fowlers rather pricey, I have resigned myself, in my cheapness frugality, to pursue the construction myself of a short flint Chief's Trade Gun, in 12 ga, by slowly accumulating bits and pieces ( a 36" single-shot "Canon" cartridge shotgun barrel to convert to flint, A Durs Egg Flintlock, broad nickle buttplate, cherry fullstock, etc)... construction will resume after fixing the roof ...

** "Stars and Garters" is an ejaculatory expression of surprise, based upon the "honours and awards" from England, the "stars" being a medal (star-shaped medals were quite prevelant), but "garters" referring to the the award of the archaic  Order of the Garter of English knighthood .

Gun Click . . . Thanks for thinking of me . . . But, . . I've made myself one out of one of the brass frame '58s I had.  Not looking for another one.  Am re-finishing the stock that I bought for it.  Was very light and sort of a satin varnish.  I'm making it match the grips on the pistol.   :)
Beware the man with one gun, he probably knows how to use it.

Angel_Eyes

JFYI, that model '58, new, in Jolly Old England would cost you £235.00,,,please apply your own conversion rate.

Gun Click . . . so . . . buy them two that Rolling Stone has fur sale.  The yul have a pair and an extra !  :)  I'm glad I didn't find one when I was looking and put the long barrel on the brass frame one that I had.  I never cared for the big target sights that the manufactures put on them.

Good shootin', . . .  :)

ps.  I'll be headin' north in late June . . . maybe we'll finally make connection.
