Texas Rangers disbandment

I've read that for a brief period of time the Texas Rangers were disbanded. Can't seem to find enough information on this. Any references that can be offered would be appreciated.

   I read a long while back, that the Texas Rangers were disbanded over politics, and the State Police were put in charge, this only lasted for a short time, because the State Police were found to be corrupt, and the citizens of Texas requested that the Texas Rangers be reorganized and put put back in charge. At least that's what I think I read.

  Sir Charles , that's where I'm at, I know I read this, but can't for the life me remember where, but it was a good read, and stuck in my mind, the corruption was so wide spread, with the State Police that the Citizens asked the Governor to reinstate the Texas Rangers, and when he did, it was only a matter of time before the Rangers had peace and order back in Texas, and several State Police officers and the higher ups thrown in jail or run out of the state.
