Well I finished the last holster for the filigree rig. I'm not entirely sure that I understand the construction of a mexican loop holster yet and I don't think this one came out exactly the way I wanted it to but its not bad if you know what I mean.
Also included a pic of the whole rig. as you can see it has alot of different shades of the same color but the older part has evened out quite a bit over the last month so I have hope that the new holster will lighten up a bit.
You pards that are really into the mexican loop style would be helping me out a lot if you would point out things that I need to work on or change.
Thanks, Gun Butcher

Nice Job. Pretty fancy smanchy!
Looks like a whole lotta work from my spot, what type of leather is the white background made from?
Do your guns barrels distort the holster when putting them in?

Gun Butcher

TW, I think this may be my "hang on the wall to remind me not to try it again" rig ;) ;D

Joe the white liner is 3-4 oz veg =tan dyed white. The outside is 8 oz.
I had to do the wet forming but I don't ever form the leather to exactly fit every contour of the gun. So once the holsters are dry they don't distort the leather.

That really looks great, GB. You did a good job on the loops. When you make a classy rig like this one, you get to make the rules. There is no right or wrong here. Lookin' good.

Very cool GB!!! What do you use to line the inside with? And is the lining the material that shows through the cut outs?

Gun Butcher

Hey Amin, the liner is the white that you see. It is dyed dark brown on the inside.

Thanks Marshal, so what you are saying is I can just say "thats the way I wanted it" and get away with it right ::)

That rig is too purty to wear around, hang on the wall would be the best.

Law dog its also heavy. Feels like I'm packing 4 dragoons and all the whatever to go with them. You wouldn't want to wear it very long  ;D

GB I sure do like that rig. GREAT color combination. Nice inlay.  ;)  KT

Gun Butcher

Thanks Kid , I had a ball making it. Course I cussed it a few times to, but all in all I'm happy with it.  Good to hear from you Pard. Hope everything is going well. We have about an inch of snow on the ground and its still coming down so I am starting to feel right at home. :o ;D

That's exactly right. Only you may think anything otherwise. ;)  It can happen that you have one thing in mind and it comes out different than you imagine. So what? Some time you may want to use that technique again and then the result will be exactly what you want. I'll bet that a lot of us use things that at one time weren't what we wanted. I sure do.

Howdy GB
That came out great.
Matching the loops to the Basketweave is a great idea. I would never have thought of that.
I like it.
Hope mine looks as good when I get around to finishing it.

GB, you've done some nice work there, but it sure looks like a heck of a project. You must have really put some time in on that one. I like the contrast of colors. I'm not a fan big of the Mexican loop look, but you've done a good job with it as far as I can tell.

I can imagine that it's heavy. Maybe you'll have to make some fancy suspenders to go with it! One thing for sure is that it's an inspirational rig for sure. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Like the rig JB, really one of a kind and classy.  Great job.

Thanks JD and AC. I probably should have taken more time with it than I did but it was a fun project.

JD, I love the look of the mexican loop style but I have to agree on the not being a big fan. At least for myself.
