I do tend to remember most of the time what I read and have read some articles on Mix before. Just took awhile for the info to resurface. A raise would be nice though............Buck

Hey,  why don't you make it a "multiple choice" (4 or 5 options) quiz?  There's only about a zillion "breeds" out there, and while some of us city boys may be real horses' rear ends, we ain't had that much "horsin' around" experience.

Capt. your right there are about Gazillion breeds out there most of which were found in the last 50 years, all outcrops from other breeds.  Champion, Koko, Topper, Black Diamond like most in the Silver screen era, were Tennessee Walking Horses, or crossbred from there.  What we call the cowhorses today Quarter's wer being developed in that era and the AQHA was formed. Most people when asked my question will answer the quarter horse.


I fear the one in front of Wal Mart is a wild mustang and should be approached with caution

Capt. I don't know if I can honestly give the correct definition. I am sure if you asked 10 people to do the same , you would get 10 answers. My dad always said it was because they were bed to run the 1/4 mile, or short distances fast. Micheal Martin Murphy's song Quarter Horse Rider gives a pretty good defintion. AQHA does have a good website. Which I general use to background my prospects.  Then on the lighter side find a Maryland? quarter and turn it over. <)
