Toolin around!

Well I decided to try the tooling tools my wife bought me for Christmas. I had picked up some tooling leather at the local hobby store, and began messin around with it. I had also bought the leather dye that I plan on using on my holsters that I got, so I tested it on the piece once I was done. This was a ton of fun! I still have piece of leather left over I can practice on so I am going to mess around with it maybe tonight! Hardest part for me was gettin used to how much force to hit the dies with, and learning when the leather was getting to dry to work. Kinda neat how it doesn't really take that much moister to work the leather. Fun stuff! I'm hooked!!! 

I left the dye on the edges to heavy and on there to long. I need to learn a better method of using the dye before I do my holsters! Any help on that fellas?

Looks like you got a good start on that carving and tooling.  When your hooked it becomes a passion but this is the best place to be for that.  Lots of great Pards to help you along. Keep us posted on your progress.
