I think it lost about 5 ounces!  As I said, not for fast draw or carrying but after using it, I am faster with anything else!!!

VERY NICE !!!
It reminds me a lot of the 1862 police model aka "Mormon Danite" aka "Avenging Angel" pistol
Some one mentioned a "birds head" grip and cartridge conversion to go along with this fine looking "hot rod" revolver. Exactly what I am looking to do. I have been doing mock ups on my computer, trying to figure out exactly what I want.  ;D

I don't know if I would add a sight on something this short. If I did, I would probably stick with a bead sight... but that is just my personal preference. I think that a lot of it would also depend on how the grouping is and at what range. No since in putting a sight on a "point blank" pistol... might slow down your draw.  ;)

Why not leave enough metal in front of the barrel wedge, an eighth inch or so to hold it, and cut it off really short.   ::)

Two things keep me from shortening the Walker more than it is.  First is I like it with the 5" barrel.  Second relates to the 1860 snubbie I have pictured.  It is very difficult to find a good holster for such short barreled pieces.  They tend to be very heavy above the belt and cause the rig to hang away from my body.  I like the grip to be tight to my torso.  For the 1860, I have gone to a pancake rig of sorts.  The Walker, I don't know that I would ever carry it, it would still weigh over 4 pounds!  Two more pounds and it's in rifle territory!

Yeah, well the next size bigger does come with wheels and an ammo caisson.   ;)

Mike Beliveau did one like that. I think he took a 1860 Colt, chopped the barrel, and put a birdshead grip on it. Also had a conversion cylinder. It looked pretty cool. I think you can find a video of it on YouTube.

Here's a genuine 1849, made in 1857. I got it as an empty shell, with the hammer broken at both ends, (beak part that goes over the nipples & the entire bottom including the notches and 1/2 the hand post hole) and the end of the 5inch bbl screwed up. Repaired the hammer w/ O/A, made screws and parts and got a trigger & bolt from DixieGunWorks. It times like it's factory new again, with new nipples i believe it would be a shooter. Got it for sale at GB as a RiverBoat Gamblers Gun.

Thanks PR  Nate did a great job getting it running correctly.  I am really pleased with it.
