Uberti is releasing a new 1873 Cattleman revolver called the Callahan Cattleman and it's chambered in .44 Magnum.
Uberti is showing us the gun Dirty Harry would have carried in the 1870's as opposed to the 1970's.
A work in progress.

Uberti will also have the Burgess. Has anyone here tried it yet?

I had a Cattleman in 44mag. back in 1976!
It had fixed sights but the top strap was a little beefer than the standard Cattleman.

The only .44 mag that I've ever shot in a SAA type pistol was a Haas.  Remember that old German gun?  I think they also made Herters pistols.  Anyway, they kick like a mule and roll up in your hand.  They don't tend to kick back, as say a Model 29 does.

After you touch off that .44 mag the barrel ends up pointing straight up.  I think they are too much gun for the grip design.

My scenario may have been a fluke, but my first match gun was a new Uberti Cattleman, and it blew apart internally 6 months out of the box, only using Winchester cowboy loads. I switched to Ruger and have never looked back.
