I thought I might let you folks know I picked up a Uberti 1860 Iron frame and it is the smoothest Henry I have ever received. Pics will be up tomorrow.

::)

Nothing personal, but looking at your caricature, have you tried saw palmetto?

Sorry I have been extremely busy. They will post tomorrow after work. I am glad I picked her up now because it turns out Uberti discontinued the all blue model.

Didn't mean to push.  Life tends to complicate matters, eh?

very NICE! 8) guessing it's 44WCF cal? I still don't have an Iron frame may sure makes me want one. :P

Doc O

Your going to LOVE that one.
I have one just like that I bought last spring in 44-40, great shooter.
Have fun with it.

Yeah she is quite the beauty. I am sorry to tell you folks, but she is a 45 Colt. Thats what I like to shoot, and that's what all my cowboy rifles are chambered for. I bought a 44-40 Henry a while back and I could not bond with it, so I sold it and got a 45. Hey if you are looking to get a blued Iron frame Henry I suggest doing it as soon as you can because Uberti is stopping the production of that model this year.

Doc O

Nothing wrong with 45 lc if thats what you like.

Why are the iron frames made without the lever latch?

Because all original iron frames lacked that as well.  ;)

That is what I thought.Thank you for confirming.

I like the buttplate on the "iron" framed Henries, a little less pointed than the other toggle link rifles.

I have been looking on and off at the iron frames to go with my case hardened one.  I love the case hardened look, but the iron frame is more authentic.

Thanks for the posting.

Howdy

That too is authentic. The iron frames had a more rounded profile at the top of the buttplate.

Now, if memory serves, when I bought my 'iron framed' Henry, all the 44-40 ones came with case hardened frames, the 45 Colt versions came with blued frames. At least that is what I recollect from when I bought mine a few years ago. Mine is 44-40 with the case hardened frame. I was of the opinion at the time that all the iron framed Henrys were blued, none were case hardened. At least I had never seen any photos of a case hardened one, all the photos I ever saw of iron frames were blued. My original plan was to strip off the colors and have the frame blued. But it was so doggone beautiful that I decided to leave it alone.

At some point in the recent past, somebody in this forum said that some of the iron frames were case hardened, so I felt a whole lot better about leaving it alone.

It's just too pretty to mess with, don't you think?

That's bad business! How long do you think I'd stay in operation if it cost me money every time I pulled a job? If he'd pay me that much to stop robbing him, I'd stop robbing him.

Ya probably inherited every penny ya got!

That might have been me.... having seen one in Mr. Dents Collection. One of the finest private collection of CW era weapons
I ever saw. Mr Dent lived in Miami Springs and was the owner of Dents Dept. Stores. I was frequent guest and viewer at his home.

That was in the post I wrote....

I have seen still another in a photo  :)
