Howdy All,

Today after shooting 200 rounds thru my Cimarron 1866 Sporting Rifle , when I got home and was cleaning her up I noticed the trigger pin had dropped out of the receiver on the floor. Glad this didnt happen out at the gravel pit. Anyways has anyone seen this before and what would be the fix? Had to disassemble the gun somewhat to reinstall said pin, but the fit is not as tight as it should be. Thanks for any input

Take it out and put a slight bend in it then re-insert it.  You may have to use a soft mallet but it will go in.

Also.... check the tension on the trigger spring.

A simple fix is to clean the threads in the receiver and on the pins, and put clear fingernail polish on the threads.  It (threads) will hold well, but can easily be un-screwed for any future maintenance.

The CORRECT thing, after checking the tension (as mentioned by Montana Slim) is to get some "threadlocker" (blue in color - non permanent) and fix it the same way as the nail polish.

There aren't any threads on the trigger pin only on the hammer screw.  The pin he is talking about holds the trigger in the frame.  I have had 2 of them start to slide out on me.  The simple fix is to slightly bend the pin and tap it in with a mallet.

Threadlocking compound applied to the hole on one end of the reciever will aid in retention.
Put it on the side your driving the pin TOWARD, not the one your pushing it through.

Oops!  Didn't mean to put out bad info.  But threadlocker done as Slim mentions will help.

Yup, the trigger pin on mine "walks" a little bit every time I shoot it.  I've taken to glancing at it every time I come to the loading table, and pushing it back into place when it gets to sticking noticeably out.  Most of the time I can do it with my thumb, and sometimes I have to use the rim of a cartridge or other metal "pusher".
