makes you realize that Gus' load in Lonesome Dove when he demolished the shot glass must have been a squib.  Oh Gus, how the mighty have fallen...

Sir Charles deMouton-Black

I watched several guys trying to show off their skills with a Walker.

These guys should be ashamed of disclosing their abysmal gun handling skills!

I have a Dragoon, not a Walker, but there's not much difference in the max possible load: 50 grs. in my (a) Dragoon; 60 grs. in a Walker.

All the smoke and flames are a real hoot!!  And with a conical projectile it's a pretty potent round.

I have the Walker and as SHB say's, it's a hoot to shoot!

I agree with Sir Charles, I mean, look at that guy on youtube, using two hands, tisk, tisk, tisk.

If you cain't stand the heat, stay away from the Walker!

Merry Christmas everyone!

If 'Gus' had fired off a Walker inside a bar the place would have looked like it was on fire from all the smoke. I can't recall a Western TV Show or Movie ever really showiing the amount of smoke produced by a fully loaded BP gun.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

The nicest thing about going to a CAS match with some one that shoots a Walker is that you never have to wonder about which stage he is shooting on. You can feel him.
I was eating lunch on the second day at Comin At Cha. The earth moved and someone at the table asked "What was that?". My reply? "That's just Pulp and his Walker and it felt like he's on stage one". He was. I verified his position by the huge cloud of aromatic smoke.

For my mouse fart loads in my walker, 30 gr of blk. ;D

Even 40 grains of black (fffg) with a wonder wad is merely flatulence rodentia, but it shoots well, and it drops the lever every time.  Just like in the movie...

The bar scene in "Open Range" where Costner shoots the "No vagrants" sign with his 10 gauge is pretty authentic.  If you watch it frame by frame you'll see the flames almost reach the sign.

The reason I was using two hands is 'cause I was shooting at a steel plate at 100 yards.  Didn't hit it either. ;D

Sorry Pulp,Mia Culpa, Just my little joke.
I have this reputation at my club for shooting anything I can get my hands on, single handed, no matter what the weight or load!!
Trouble is, that at 63 yrs and having stopped work 10yrs ago, I have lost a deal of muscle mass, and its getting more and more difficult.

Damn this pride thing, there's gonna be a come-uppance, sometime soon!!

I was on Pulps Posse it was fun to shoot with him.  Love the homemade Black Powder also.

I did a little research and found that the official international symbol for a noxious or dangerous odor is a circle with an exclamation point in it.  I'm tempted to have my pistol grips lazer cut with many small symbols.
You may not like the smell of the Holy Black but it is better than Unique!

Jamie

I've read that psychologists have determined that scent is one of the greatest memory foundations and prompters that humans avail themselves of, consciously and subconsciously.  Nowhere near as selective or discerning as a member of the dog family, humans do have the capacity to gain a great deal of information from what we sniff out.  Have you ever smelled a buck just before he burst from cover?  On the other hand, have you ever smelled something that just "took you back" to another place and time of fun, or of a person long gone?  It doesn't have to smell "good" to bring back a good memory.  As I've passed 50, I find that after a long day of hard work and sweat, I'm beginning to develop an odor that is new to me, but smells exactly like I remember my father smelling after a similar day.  He's been gone since 1985.  The first time I smelled it, it brought tears to my eyes, and I remembered chopping wood and leaning over a car engine with him.  To anyone else, it's just stink. To me, it's a greater joy than fresh bread out of the oven.  Black powder smoke is "the good stuff" boys and girls.  Memories of hunting days, good friends and taking a decidedly different tack in life than some.  It is aromatic at the headiest level!  Breath deep my friends!

Hey Angle Eyes, I'm near 71 and still shoot one handed, even using my HB 1911, .41Mag and my .44 mag. Its a habit hard to break because of decades of NRA Bullseye competition. Trust me you will do fine as you get "there" I still feel great when my Walker goes "BOOM".
