Howdy Gents,

Money's too tight at this time to buy a functioning 1911, but it would be nice to have something to use to fit Wild Bunch holsters. I've been borrowing guns from friends, but it's time to do something else.

I can get a Blue gun shipped for about 60 bucks, but I'm wondering if there are better options. I know some of you guys use various nonfunctioning guns in your businesses; are there any brands you would recommend, or maybe some I should stay away from?

Thanks very much for sharing your experience, JD

JD, just where are you buying Blueguns that cost that much? I live by Rings Mfg. and you can order direct from them but you will pay Full retail which is about $45.You can find them cheaper online down to about $35 but you may have to wait for the gun to be dropshipped from rings as any online dealers don't stock them.I can get them for about $40 here. You also have ASP Redguns and Duncan's makes aluminum molds.Since alot of heavy molding is not done on Western style holsters, a cheaper Airsoft replica might workm those are usually available for about $20-$30.Hope this helps.Dave :)

JD, I just buy the bb guns, so does WC, they make as exact copies of the real gun, the last shoulder holster I made I bought a 1911 for $39.00 and it worked fine, my customer received his holster and his gun fit perfectly, watch you adds in the paper, I've seen them as low as $19.99 an sale, you can't beat that, and they make them for most the popular make guns, the gun in these pictures is a bb gun exact copy 1911

Excellent info guys. Now the Blue Gun is down to 50 bucks shipped, not a bad deal. I will look around locally for a bb gun and see what I can find. Gracias, JD

JD, I have a 1:1 scale 1911A1 "non-gun" from the old MGC Bondshop in Hiroshima that I bought about 36 years ago.  It doesn't work any more, (I even super-glued it together in places) but it will work for your purposes.  It's exact down to most of the markings.

If you want it, send me an address and when it gets there you can send me whatever the postage is on the package...probably around $7.00.
