Shotgun Steve

This terrific Cabinet card image shows two Hunters and their three hunting dogs. Both gentleman are wearing boots and are holding rifles. This studio photograph was produced by Walter of Rochester, New York. Notation on the reverse of the card identifies the hunters and is dated 1887.

I to enjoyed that story and would like to know more about Pistol Pete.  He sounds like a person who was the model for many a Western story.

More great picture!

Thanks for posting all of them, Steve!  Rifle ... shoot-gun ... long gun ... eh, what the heck.  The picture and date are most important.  We can figure out the details.

And a great article in The Shootist, too.

The seated hunter appears to be holding a LeFaucheux underlever double shotgun.  My Husqvarnas are based on the same design.
