Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section. Hey guys I was wondering if anyone knows anything about old gun?? Over 25 years ago my dad got this gun from a friend when he was in the army. He no longer lives with us so I don't know much about this gun or if its even real. I'll post few pictures if nobody knows anything maybe someone could point me towards a forum or something, thanks.

Yes it is real.  Not some figment of your imagination   ;) .   Looks to me like a replica rather than a really old one.  You can see replicas of some rather strange old designs on the Dixie Gun Works site.  There were lots of designs in the early days of making pistols that look a bit strange to modern eyes.   :)
Beware the man with one gun, he probably knows how to use it.

I thought so to. Do you think its worth anything. I would like to find some information on this gun...

appears to be a reproduction, smoothe bore, Wolfgang pointed you the right way with Dixie Gun Works, price you can go from there. I don't think it has any significant value

This one came out in the '70's - but that's the 1970's.

They were provided both finished and in kit form (not much actual difference, there) and were featured in full-color ads in the gun magazines of the period - along with a weird multi-barrel 'duckfoot'.

At the time, I think they sold for under $30 - I don't think they appreciated in value as a 'collectable.

'Classic Arms' was the original manufacturer or 'Allen Firearms' - or both.

It's a replica of a 'type' - but not any specific single-shot.

You 'can' shoot it safely, though.

According to my 2008 Dixie catalog, its called a  "New Orleans Ace" and was available in kit form for $76.50.  #11 caps,12 gr. FFFg and a .433 round ball with a .015 patch are listed as a load.  Several people I know bought them as a first black powder handgun.

A friend of mine bought all of the "Classic Arms" firearms kits...yes, back in the early 70's.
I helped him put them together, a couple of them were built in shop class. Bought them at the corner drugstore for very little $$.

Just saw one yesterday at a gun show. It was a kit in the box that had already been assembled. The seller was asking $40 for it, but said he would take $20. The piece looked like it had never been fired. Was very crude. I think whoever put it together didn't do much in clean up and assembly. The calibur like SHB stated was .44. I think I would be very cautious if I were going to shoot it. In fact I don't think I would shoot it.

Looking at the Gun Broker listing, I would say that it's worth $50 - $75.  The lister wanting more than $75 seems a bit greedy to me.  Just MHO.
