Mr. Pettifogger

I read your article in SASS about using Dillon buttons for setting the arbor length in open top pistols.
My question is you state # 3 Dillon buttons but I wanted to know what is the difference in the
other buttons?  I have a collection of pistols and a bigger or smaller size might be useful.  I only ask
because I have never seen a Dillon press and have no idea what the buttons are used for.  Thanks
ahead of time.

The buttons go in little holes around the edge of the shell plate to keep the rounds from falling out.  They have to be removable because there are different size buttons for different calibers.  I load lots of calibers so I have lots of buttons.  The No. 3 just happened to be the closest to the right size.

I have a small lathe so would it be worth it to buy bigger dia. buttons and turn them down?  If so
what # is the next size larger?

Pettifogger

I think 3 is the largest.  If you have a lathe you can make your own buttons.

Thanks for the help I'll order some # 3 buttons
