i have been looking at sites selling knife blades and knife making kits. several different steels are mentioned- 440c,6a,8a,vanadium.etc. could someone with knowleges of the different steels and advantages of each
expound a little and give some practical advice to someone who is getting the itch to make a knife but knows diddly squat
about it.

thanx,

Interesting post, but it explains the old time steels, not the modern alloys. ::)

MD, just google those types and you should get the info you want. ;)
