Howdy Pards.  I am trying yo put together a edge burnisher like the Bianchi dvd calls for.
Does anyone have some scrap pieces of wool that they would part with pretty cheap like?
If so shoot me an email at dsbrown@nts-online.net :D
Thanks

It's been a while sense I've looked at Bianchi's video, but doesn't he talk about where to get this wool in the video. :-\

(509) 967-2502 in Washington state. Ivan Sampson makes and sells the motorized leather burnisher. I have one and it works great. I also use it with a sanding wheel instead of a belt sander.

JD,  Can you post a picture of your burnisher?

JD, is this the guy I see listing on Ebay regularly?  I think he sometimes links to YouTube for demos of his stuff but I do not have a link to it.  I did have some compressed parer fiber board that I used for applying wax at one time but I think it all got hauled away when the new shop was being built.  It actually worked ok, firm but at the same time capable of loading up with wax very well and I used a hole saw to cut the discs.

Ivan is on E-Bay and Youtube, listed as the Fantastic Leather Burnisher. He lives in Washington, not too far from Portland, and had his machines for sale at the Portland Tandy. They were cheaper there than through E-Bay, so I bought one. It has a 1/2 in shaft, so I was able to get a sanding disk for it through Parkrose Hardware in Portland. I don't have a belt sander, but this is a pretty good substitute for leather use. It's bolted to my bench now.

JD,

That looks just like mine except I have both the sander and the burnisher mounted to the same shaft.

Outrider, I know he offers a double system, and I suppose if I did as much work as you and some others do, it would makes sense for me to switch over. The way it is now, it only takes a minute or so to switch back and forth.
