How many rounds in a '73 carbine ?

The Cimarron specs say you can get 10 rds in the '73 carbine...but guys that in the 'know' (I guess) tell me you just cant do it,,not even with the .357/.38s. Is this true ? No calibre '73 carbine will hold 10 rounds ?
What a shame,,I love the looks of the carbine with the 19" barrel,,but it would really handicap you without the ability to load a full stage of 10rds in it.

What say ya'll ?

Thanks.

I don't know about a '73 carbine, but my Uberti '66 carbine in .38 spl easily takes 10 in the magazine. My Uberti '73 rifle has a half magazine and holds six 44-40's.

What I'd really like to know is if one could load 10rds of .44Colt in a .44Special carbine,,and if the '73 in .44special would cycle the .44colts reliably ? The 'rim' of the .44Colt is a wee bit less in diam than the speical,,,wonder if there would have to be any major 'tricking out' done to the carbine to cycle the .44colts ? Assuming one could actually load 10 , .44Colt rounds in the carbine to begin with.

Appreciate any help ya can toss my way on this subject, guys,

Marshal D,

The answer to both questions (all three?) is yes.  The '73 carbine magazine will hold 10 rounds of whatever you put in it.  38, 357, 44 Spl, 44 Colt or 45 Colt.  As long as the extractor is snug, the rifle will cycle .44 Colt reliably.  The same hold true for the '66.
If your interested, Adirondack Jack has a nifty carrier modified to cycle very short cartridges and with just a swipe of a file, will run .44 Russian.  Very fun.

The only one that has problems with holding ten rounds is the Trapper.  It has a 16" barrel and getting ten rounds in can be a challenge.  The regular carbines have 19" barrels and ten rounds fit with no problem.
