Hoof Hearted

I have around 200 cases that came from Charter a couple of years ago. This was test fire brass and was loaded by Ten-X I believe.
When I received it I cleaned it, sorted it and attempted to use it in my newly acquired 1876 which had excessive head space and the firing pin (thankfully) would not reach the primers. So.........being an anal gunsmith, I fitted new links to my Crap-aral at minimum headspace.......................long story short this reformed, once fired, 348 and 50-70 brass will not work in my rifle!

It will work, superbly, in most factory 45-75 Chaparrals (and maybe the Uberti's). I paid $3.00 each.

My loss is your gain at $1.25 each plus shipping.

Thanks to Jamison I've got plenty of brass now, but have you tried full length sizing?  Hope that's not a dumb question.

As I like to say "the only dumb question is the one not asked"!

Full length sizing of the cases will not decrease head space as that is set by rim thickness and/or length of toggle links.

These reformed cases were hydroformed so they do not have that reduced capacity/wasp waist issues that require multiple firings. They are very nice..........just the rim is too thick for my altered (meaning corrected headspace) issue. The cats meow though for a rifle like your Chaparral that you fixed by welding/soldering a shim on the front face of the bolt (I could see where that might cause you some issues with firing pin length as many Craparals have issues already there........but it might help a tad with their inherent "too long" extractor).

I'm surprised that no one wants these.

I get you, was thinking it was a chamber differance.  I've got enough for the chappy, and the rim is too small on the 348 for my Uberti.

I didn't have an issue with the firing pin length, only had to add a couple though to the bolt face to tighten up the head space and there's enough slop in the toggles to overcam slightly, so far it's eaten 348, 50-90 and jamison 45-75 just fine now.

It's a good price, but I guess with jamison brass being availible again it's just not in that much demand.  I noticed on the buffalo arms site that Jamison was around 1.40$ a round and there reformed 50-90 was 2.30?  Wonder how fast it'll sell now.

Good luck
