A littile back-yard hunting at the farm...Poor fella peeked over the top slat of what used to be a feed bunk inside the barn.
His first/last mistake of the day. The pictured 44 WCF Carbine is 100% effective on small critters, so far.
32 grains of FF Kik + 44 "MAV" big-lube bullet.
I've not Chrony'd the load in this gun, but anticipate it would be at/below 1000 fps.

Good news ....he can't warn his friends that I'll be back... soon  ;D

Good thing you didn't need a follow up shot on him, shooting BP inside the barn smoke probably took a while to clear.

Slim, is it true that if you cook em right they taste just like chicken?  They must be thick this year, at the neighbors barn I shot
one and trapped two in the last week

I should ask a neighbor at the farm, bet he's tried it.....BTW, maybe they make good chili?  ;) :o

Agree, must be good season for them to breed. I only saw two last weekend..but based on the dirt mounds, holes, etc I'd guess 8-10 are in the herd. On the bright side, I'm keeping them from invading the house & I have a steady population to "manage". Makes a good hobby for me now that the meth-manufacturing neighbor is gone (deceased) & the family farm / livestock aren't overrun with his crossbred attack dogs (avg wt - 130 lbs). After his demise, the police investigated his barn & they found over 50 of these dogs in crates/cages.

Got a chance to squirrel hunt the other day . I killed 4  so later that week we had squirrel pot pie . Today I am making Deer Jerky this is the last of the Deer meat from last season . The plan is to have used all of the meat from last year , so on opening day of Deer season I have a EMPTY freezer . Hope everyone is gearing up for Deer season and everyone has a safe and successful hunting season , good luck and Happy Hunting .

I don't like for the freezer to run completely out. Always try and get enough to last till next deer season.

The Deer jerky I fixed yesterday will come in handy . I enjoy chewing on jerky while waiting on that ole Big Buck to show his head . I plan on harvesting a couple young does for eating , then trying to wait for the Swamp Monster to appear . I have been working with my 73 in 44wcf as my weapon of choice this year . But my 76 in 45-60 is always at the ready  .

Great job . This weekend was rainy Saturday and WINDY Sunday . We ate GOOD and had a Great time . JD killed a nice Doe and I smoked a Coyote . I sat a blind by a downed cotton wood tree that crossed the creek . I look up and here comes 2 coyotes they are on the other side of the creek and the lead coyote gets to the downed tree and jumps on the tree with intentions of crossing to my side Wrong answer . That 50 caliber dropped him dead .

buckskin billy

good kill rowdy. you cant kill enough coyotes. my hunt had the makings of going wrong in a hurry, when I got to my blind my chair that I have sat on for 20 years was gone. it was a old boat seat on a bucket and worked good, it allowed me to swivel all the way around to make a shot. I built that blind for the chair. I had a lawn chair in my truck and grabbed it but it aint for shooting out of. and it sat me too low in may stand, I couldn't even see out the window. so I figured what the heck the weathers nice and its a good day to be in the woods. when he walked out and the smoked cleared from that ole sharps that day got better

The Cimmarron 1881 shotgun with the 30 inch barrels , are there lots of these on hand ? They would make a excellent Vintage Hunting Shotgun .

Yes, there are plenty of the 1881 with 30" barrels.  20+ of the Standard, 20+ of the Deluxe.  I have a deal with Cimarron right now where I can sell the deluxe and standard for the same price.  So it boils down to how fancy do you want wood.  Standard is laser checkered stock and fore arm.  Deluxe is laser checkered with scroll carving around it.  I have a 30" Deluxe in my shotgun cabinet.  email the store at ThreeB.Shooting@att.net if you are interested in pricing.

Could you post a few pictures of the 30 gun . The 30 inch barrels are the Vintage Gun . This would be the ticket for Turkey hunting and we have fall season in December . Would that gun have a xtra full with it ?

I sent you a pm
