Hehe - well said Rowdy - I can relate to that sentiment!
I had a great season, but unfortunately, I had rotated into modern firearms on the days I saw deer, so my `76 doesn't need cleaning this year. On the last day of the season my sons said "Dad you can hunt today if you want, but you have to leave your rifle in camp and not take it out with you!. Here is/are two of the reasons.....

I am not Rowdy, but my #2 son is going to make an attempt at it. We set aside 4 front shoulders for hot sticks, and two rump roasts to slice/or grind into fine hamburger and press it into strips - we'll see how that works. I know it's sacrilege (at least in these parts), but I'm going to donate some tenderloin meat too - we have plenty to spare this year. I'm sure it will turn out great.

my luck finally changed sunday, i got a 7 point. i had my henry and my winchester model 70 270. the buck came out a little further than i was comfortable at making a shot with the henry.





we finally had a weekend that got cold and them bucks were on the move that morning

Looks like everyone has been busy killing Deer and Hogs . Turkey season opens tomorrow trying to go hunting and do Honey do's for my Mother . Ya just can't say no to mom . Thanks for all the pictures , keep em coming .

I smoked me a Turkey today . My 1878 with the 26 inch barrel did an EXCELLENT job . The bird was at almost 40 yards and he fell to the ground like a ton of bricks hit him . These black powder shotgun shells work great . Will post pictures in a few days .

Thanks for the kind words . I hunted this morning with a HOWLING wind , there was nothing moving in the woods . This Saturday muzzle loading season opens for a week . Plan on taking the smoke pole out for a Doe . If it's a Doe and brown it's going DOWN .

Thanks for all the kind words . The 1878 shotgun has tubes , and for turkey hunting I use Turkey tubes . The shirt I was wearing is a brain tanned buckskin I got from Bear Tooth Billy . The hat is a ole beater I bought from Tonto Rim years ago .
Saturday is opening day of Muzzle Loading season , hope I get my ole smoke poles 21 st Deer .

Good job Rowdy!! I'm jealous of you guys that can use rifles for deer hunting. Here in Iowa we have to use shotguns with slugs. I did
get a doe last sat., will be making summer sausage tomorrow.

Good to hear from you . Have you got another shirt for sale ? I love the one I got from you ,wear it when hunting , or shooting . Tomorrow is the opening day of Muzzle Loader season . I have my old smoke pole ready for action . 90 grains of powder . patch and round ball = Deer Jerky ,Tenderloin , Steaks . The weatherman is calling for another day of rain again tomorrow . It is raining today ,so will leave the Turkeys alone today . Muzzle loading in the rain can be very interesting  . Keep your powder and caps DRY or your rifle becomes a CLUB .
