Forty Rod

I've been told that my rememberer stuttered again.  The back door on the "big" Isetta was hinged at the front and swung open like a big boy's car.

The Germans made some strange cars right after the war.  One of them sold over 20 million copies. ::)

Dontchu be makin' fun of my beetles.  I still love those VW's.  While were talkin' about swimmin' cars, let's talk about the Schwimmwagen.  Oh how I'd love to have one of those!

Look, Forty, there's one of your Isettas in the background as well as a Mini.

Trinity, I've owned several Beetles and a Type III Squareback.  I'd have one or two today if I could afford it. (Who ever thought we'd say that)  They still are a strange little car.  Bet if I had my ol' Baja I could make ya poop yer pants.  Ya ever flew Air VW. :o :o :o  The flyin's easy, the landin' can be a bit bone jarin'. ;D

You sure don't see many of em (the vw's) around any more,  they cut em all up for dune buggies around here, made many a fun trip with a friend of mine who had one back in 67.
We done it for Dixie,  nothing else

Del., I'm a purist.  I like everything as it came from the factory.  However, the only modification that I like is the Baja Beetle mods. ;D

As far as VWs go, I like any of the air cooled VWs, no matter how ugly.  Yes, it's funny that we have to say "If we could afford it".  With the introduction of the "new beetle" (which to me is no beetle at all) the used prices went through the roof and people started to horde them. >:(  I sold my beetle in 1996 because I needed extra cash to study in Germany.  When I returned in Jan. 1997 the new beetle came out or was coming out and there were no affordably priced beetles in the paper any more :(.

I've had two, a new '70 and then a sometime later a '71 Super( that wasn't). They were a heck of a little car, once you figured out how to make the heating system work :o I absolutely hated the MacPherson fronts on those, ruined a perfectly good car :P.......Buck 8) ;)
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

Trinity

My first one was a Super and my second wasn't.  That is not what you want to have if you are on a budget!  :o ::)

That one is too fancy, i'll see if I can find some of my mud pictures and figger out this scannin' and such.  Mine was a beast, parts of it are in Gopher Grease's garage being rebuilt. ;D

Never owned a Super, hated them, used to work on VW's for a living as a body man.  I had a 67 also, built about a 150 hp engine and set up the suspension, would go 85 in 3rd and to the oil pressure light in 4th. ;D  0-40 in a block and 0-65 in two and then around the corner with the foot on the floor. :o
