she was about 10 years younger than he was,  she just passed away last year.

course now back years ago it was different,  my great great grandfather was married 3 times.  the first time at 24 to a 15 year old, they had 7 kids, she passed away, he married again at 45 the girl was 15 they had 2 kids, she passed away when he was around 60, he got married again at 62 to a 15 year old. they had 2 kids, they were the same age as my grandad,  I guess things were a lot different back then, he was born in 1825

I've been finding big differences in age like that where doing my genealogy too.

when I was growing up, my granddad had several uncles who were his age and younger.

it seems like the men waited later to get married, I guess so they could have enough material goods to make a living, or at least a mule & plow and some ground to farm. (in my family's case they were nearly all farmers) and the girls the same age as them were already married off to the older men, so the only thing to do was marry a very young girl.
