The rare "Blued" Merwin & Hulbert open top pocket army is highly sought by collectors and is know as the "Holy Grail" of Merwins. Blued models were non-standard and had to be special ordered from the factory. Blued pocket models with their short barrels and less reflective finish, were special ordered by Sheriffs, Marshals and Law Men, who were in need of all these special features.

Here we have, not one, but two; a "Holy Grail" pair in superb condition having been produced in 1881, the 1st year of production. Each is caliber marked "Model 1873 Winchester" meaning the big bore 44-40 cal. that was so popular during that period.

This unique pair has 3 digit consecutive serial numbers, 22x, 22x, with corresponding 2 digit consecutive assembly numbers 3x, 3x.

A very unique Contemporary casing of this pair includes an original 1880's Merwin Hulbert Company Sporting Goods Shield, a period screw driver, a period key-ring, an oiler, and 18 cartridges.

A true one-of-a-kind ........ two-of-a-kind.

$47,500

Yup it is an old tymer, it came with the MH in it. Will have to get with Old Top to get a shot. Maybe he can put some more info on it.
