I've been talking to Doc Bob,and discussing a road trip with my pard MT Chambers ....  seems The NCOWS convention is doable  :)
The 3rd weekend in March
Reardon Ctn.  520 Minnesota Ave, Kansas City, KS 66101-2930

I'm not sure about driving conditions in Mid-March for this  tropic lander  :-\
But driving, might be the ticket....
Dennis aka MT Chambers has folks in KC so he's basiclly going home, but I've only been in KC once many years ago.
I did Mounted Cavalry Living History at Ft.Scott and went trough KC.
Course, I'm fairly familiar with the route towards St. Louis ( I've driven to Springfield ILL several times )

So, I'm looking at this thinking , hmmmm ... I have the Vacation time .... And I'd sure like to meet fellow NCOWS folks  :)

Kay and I are planning on attending again this year.  We almost had too much fun and the seminars were worth the price of the convention without all the other fun stuff.

Winter time weather can be unpredictable. I plan on flying up there from the Metroplex. The flight should be less than 2 hours in duration.

Is there gonna be shootin' - or is this more of a socializing and running-the-organization type of event?

Oh, OK. My wife's best friend from college lives near KC and we go up to visit now and then. I'll have to keep the date of the convention in mind.

It may be wise to Fly.... I spoke to MT today...He's been to KC twice this year and said it about $208 RT *

I doubt, with gas ,overnight somewhere (doubt I want to do a 1900 mile marathon one way) I couldn't beat that price.*
With meals and drive time I'd save money Flying....

Major 2, I haven't checked on prices yet for me, but that's probably close to what my tickets will be. It's about a 2 hour flight for me or a 650 mile trip, one way driving.

I'm packing light as I can. One checked bag and a small carry-on, no laptop.  Major, Maybe we can share a shuttle to the hotel. I plan on going back on Sun. afternoon. My wife works during the week, so I can't stay till Mon. I will probably fly out of D/FW, so that means AA. They usually have cheapy flights too.

Prices today were near $400..but if I do change planes in Atlanta I can get it down to below $300.
I think I'll work on it some more maybe hold my decision till Jan. or so
