I own a Pietta '58 NMA. Someday I'd also like to own an 1875.

I'm looking for a book on Gunsmithing that's oriented towards either of these models. I don't know anything about gunsmithing and I don't plan on becoming a gunsmith but I do want to understand how to take better care of, how to troubleshoot, and how to do basic repairs.

Anyone got any recommendations?

Gunsmithing the Guns of the Old West by Chicoine [sp?] is a good start.

+1 on David Chicoine's book.  Everything you need to know for most black powder revolvers.

I was just looking on Amazon and noticed the author has released another book - "Guns of the New West" about modern replica CAS firearms. Have any of ya'll looked at it? I get the impression it's not about gunsmithing.
