Looks good, Johnny. Nice job with the improvising. That should work fine.

It's been quite some time since I've done any thing, a few holsters nothing really out of the norm. I've wondered off to the flint lock eara, building powder horns etc, but I threw this small patch knife and neck sheath together.

That's the one!
There are more pictures in the thread 'Cantina/pommel bag'.
This type of bag was around more or less unchanged for about forty years, until the late nineties. One reason for their decline may have been that they hung best on slick fork saddles but not so well on bow forks and the others that came along.....

Great Job Skeeter!!!!!!

None yet,the roll is behind the hat, just put it up there to see how it looked..I always take them back to this shape to decide what old west shape to make them.. :)

What a great Idea!
What did you use to get the crown curved so smooth??
I wear a hat with the same crown, but I am always denting it on something.

GunClick Rick

Well that's why i buy them cheap, becuase the first thing to go is the liner,i push the crown out and fill with hot or warm water, let it sit for a minute dump water then stick my fist in there and spin around and around, repeating that on with water on the outside also, just have to be careful not to get the sweatband real wet, they can shrink up.I just get the hat wet tamp dry an use a little steam iron i have to smooth the brim on both sides and let sit over night.I go back and rub the crown smooth offf and on..

Great score on the hat.

I just love finding good stuff like this, especially that cheap... then transforming it to something you'll be proud to wear. I've found several hats the same way and with a little effort they turned out great. Good find.
