BUNKHOUSE RAMBLINGS

Nothin real fancy here. I made myself a Wild Bunch rig, using 8-10 W&C russett, a sale piece. They have 2 applications of Neatsfoot, and nothing else at this point.

The belt is 2 inch, using an Al Stholman buckle. For the holster I used a Slowhand Bob pattern that I added a good sized drop to. (thanks Robby). The holster is a little thin for me, because I didn't line it. I have two Chicago screws on it. The one on top is a tension adjuster. The one on the bottom is a stop. I have a piece of tubing on it, and the barrel rests on it. The gun was dropping down farther than I wanted it to.

I found an idea for a mag holder I liked that works pretty well. They are easy to make and don't require sewing. I showed the front and back of the ones on the belt. 8-10 is a bit heavy for these mag holders, but I wanted to keep the color the same on all the pieces.

I've made three sizes of mag holder, depending on the width of the belt. The two other sizes are the ones on top. I made them out of 6/7. I used this rig Saturday for a shoot and it worked real well.

Well done JD, this rig looks like it would get the job done, it looks great all around, that extra drop you get with the holster will make grabbing your gun a little easier, thanks for the look see and sharing with us pard. ::) 8) ;D

KT and BB, nice work!

Good work on those peashooter parts Sarge. Is that Gringo Jacks? Why has he not brought it over to our range?? >:( ;D ;D

BTW, in the video you posted, that may be me in the background at the loading table. The one in the black hat. The one in the gray is my dad at one of his first shoots.

That's a cool rig, JD. Nice work. It looks like it'll do you well. The extra drop on the holster is nice, especially if you wear your belt high. Good-looking mag holders.

Thanks for the pics, SGT. That cannon looks mighty fine. The cover and straps really complement the piece. I love the ironwork on it, too.

Howdy JD,

Great job on the Wild Bunch rig!  Looks like you put a lot of thought into it. By the way what did you use for finish?
You need to learn to like all the little everday things like a sip of good whiskey, a soft bed, a glass of buttermilk,  and a feisty old gentleman like myself

JD Alan

Thanks for the positive comments guys, I appreciate it. I've been making some holsters and belts for other people lately, but nothing special or worthy in my opinion of posting pictures.

If there is a video floating around with Dalton and his dad shooting I'd like to see that ;D

Johnny, all I've done so far is put a couple of coats of Neatsfoot on all the pieces. I think I'm going to put on a couple more coats, then go from there.
