Howdy Boys,

I know there are some motorcycle riders among the Leather workers here. How about some pictures of your rides and a little bit about your riding career?

I've been riding since 1957. Taught myself how to ride on an old Pan Head with a tank shift. Had lots of bikes, mostly Harley's. Best one I ever had was a 1940 WL. Dumbest thing I ever did was to sell it. Attached is a picture of it along with a 1974 XL Hard-Tail I used to own.

My current ride is a 2003 Electra-Glide Classic. I try to hit at least 7500 miles a year. Been to Sturgis 20 out of the past 21 years. I'm pretty much retired now but work at a local Harley dealer part-time during the busy season in Sales and F & I. One of my goals for next year is to ride the bike to a shootin' match.

I live around 25 miles from Milwaukee. Attached is a link to a slide show of the Harley Museum.

Johnny, that '40 WL looks fantastic! I have a few I wish I'd never sold, but none that nice.

I haven't ridden my street glide since early August. My balance wasn't too good then, and it's still not 100%. I don't want to risk any dumps.

Very beautiful WL, Johnny. That's one of my favorite models. I always wanted one with a Goulding sidecar. I got my first bike, a Honda 50 C-110 in 1962. Been getting better bikes all the time. My last two have Been Harleys. My first was a red 1985 FXRS. I built a trike in 2000 and sold that to make way for my current bike, a 1993 FXLR. Here are a few pics of the ones I have pics of. We'll start with the most recent. Somewhere I have pics of a few others, but can't lay my hands on them right now. They're photos that need to be scanned and they're stored somewhere safe. ::)

Howdy JD,
Thanks for the kind words. Hope you can get back on your bike real soon.

Howdy Marshall,
Those are some great looking bikes. That Honda looks like it was built for some serious riding!

My first brand new Harley was an 1987 Harley FXLR. Do you still have the original leather tank strap on your 1993? Wiilie G designed this strap and somewhere I have a copy of the drawing. It goes into some detail regarding the lacing. I'll try to find it.

That Honda did move along. I did some serious riding with that one. Dug up some serious pavement a couple times with it, too.  ;D

Johnny, I do have the original tank strap on my bike. If you have a copy of the original specs, though, it would be fun to see. You never know, I may want to make one some day with a different design on it.

Howdy Guys
I got my M/C license at 15 1/2, been riding ever since. I've had a dozen Honda 350's 450's & 750's. Been riding Gold Wings since they came out. I've rode HD's but they just don't fit me right.
Here are pix of the last 3.

Howdy TW,

Many thanks for posting that fascinating video. In your travels and experiences as a Quick Draw Artist, did you ever get a chance to see or meet Joe Bowman?

Howdy Johnny, no I never met Joe Bowman, wish I had, same for Bob Mundin, when I was really active in Quick draw back in the 1960's, pards didn't seem to travel nearly as much as they do today, we would get shooters from bordering states, but that was about it, I remember Wes Flowers back then, Wes has always been good, and one of the better shooters, he was always very consistent and just plowed away at making a name for himself in the Quick Draw World, and as a Gunsmith  and a heck of a pard too.We didn't have PC's back then, and friendships were made quickly, you might not see some one for years, and back then we didn't seem to even take pictures like they do today, and that's too bad, I guess we were all just having too much fun to bother with it. I wish I had those pictures today, memories are great, but having pictures to look back on are even better.

Gun Slick Rick, I'm glad you liked the video, I thought some of you pards would enjoy seeing him in action, Joe looks like he's still is having fun with his guns too, nice bike too Rick, my wife said it looked like a wedding party, and you weren't invited, I told her that couldn't be, and that real men dressed like that back then. :-\ ??? ::) ;D ;D ;D LOL

WC, Top of the morning to ya

        Best Regards Pards

Good Advice Rick.

With the realatively poor health that many of us are afflicted with you just can't take the chance!
