Anybody know how Taylor stacks up against Cimarron? I'm new to CAS and would like to see a Taylor before I buy, but nobody around here stocks one. I'm pretty much settled on an 1873 model. Thanks... :)

They are both Uberti importers, same rifle. I prefer to deal with Taylors, much better customer service, or better yet you can get one slicked up and ready to go straight from Cody at the Cowboy Shop. Either way the Uberti 73 is a great pick. Oh yea......Welcome and Good Luck.

Taylor's service and reputation are both excellent and their association with Cody makes things even better.

You have the right attitude for CAS.  Welcome!  Are you thinking about SASS or NCOWS?

I have a  DP sharps that I just purchased. It says Taylor on top of barrel but under  forame it says made by Pedrisoli. It a beautiful rifle and the fit is as good as any bodys.  Heavy  and shoots as good as your eye can see. I am 70 and can still shoot 3" groups at 200yrds.    DG

Howdy Farmall130,

I have bought several guns from Taylor's. There quality and service are top notch.

Heck, You are just a youngster. I was 67 when i shoot my first match. You will meet a lot of great people.

Tensleep is 100% right. Taylor's customer service is far better than Cimarrons.

Thanks everybody. I'm looking at getting into SASS. I'm in north carolina and understand there is a great group in Salisbury. I talked with a fella called Mike Tracker and he lives just down the road from me. I just want to go out and get thru a 1st match correctly and safely, maybe some speed will come, but if not, shootin' is always fun...

Tracker Mike and ALL the folks at Old North State Posse are great and "The Uprising at Swearing Creek" is the first weekend in November. Uprising is the NC SASS State championship.

Don't miss it!

I should be in Wagram Sat (Cross Creek Cowboys) , give me a holler if you want to shoot, I'll bring ya a set of shootin irons. Oh yea......watch out for Tracker Mike  :D ;D :P............just kidding, :)  Tracker Mike is a fine pard to ride with. 8) Good Luck.

Sure they are, they even have categories for them to shoot in. If you're coming out Sat shoot me a pm.

• Juniors are persons aged 16 and under. The category may be subdivided by age and gender.
Suggested divisions are "Young Guns" aged 14 through 16 and "Buckaroos" 13 and under.
Caution is urged in allowing competitors under age 14. Local laws, regulations, and
insurance requirements may prevent matches from offering some age groups.
• Parental consent and supervision is required for all competitors under twenty-one years of
age.
• "Buckaroos" must use revolvers, rifles, and shotguns meeting the external standards but
may be chambered in .22 LR for revolvers and rifles and .410 caliber for shotguns.

Thanks, my little girl is not ready yet (7 years old), but she wants to see what daddy is doing. Right now, I let her shoot a Red Ryder BB and work hard on teaching her gun safety. Senseless deaths from children playing with guns make me sick to the stomach. If you're gonna have kids and guns, ya gotta accept responsibilty for both....

Howdy

As was stated earlier, neither Cimarron nor Taylors are manufacturers. They are importers and distributors. As such, Taylors does not have a factory, although I'm sure they probably have a very nice showroom. Last time I did business with Taylors they had a gunsmith on site who fitted a conversion cylinder to a percussion revolver for me. I am not aware of any other importer that offers such a service. I was very pleased with the service I got from Taylors. As always, a phone call in advance of a visit would probably be a good idea.

That's bad business! How long do you think I'd stay in operation if it cost me money every time I pulled a job? If he'd pay me that much to stop robbing him, I'd stop robbing him.

Ya probably inherited every penny ya got!
