Daniel,  My Grandpa used to say that Custer's last words were, "Last time I buy one of those D****d Arrow shirts!"

A SGT I served with went to the sandbox and swears that a brand new 2LT (West Point grad, of course) said this as his last words:
"Don't profess to tell me where to seek cover, Sergeant, you do know I outrank -"

Capt., Those 2nd LTs need to pay attention to the Sgts. more often, they will live longer.

Frenchie, I cannot believe you even watched that movie let alone posted a quote from it here. I had to sit through it a number of time because my daughter thinks it is great though sappy.

I love it, seen it three times now. The book is different, more sombre and darker in places. They both work on several levels, with the movie simpler and, of course, more in tune with the barking moonbat Hollywood politics. I think the movie was really well cast.

Yes they will.....and yes I did.

Its one of our two enjoy-them-over-and-over-again movies (the other is Tremors, if you can believe that).  I especially enjoy watching Mandy Patinkin as the swordfighting Spaniard:  "Hello!  My name is Inigo Montoya.  You killed my father.  Prepare to die!"

I have to admit that this is one of my favorite movies ...

First, there are the two plots unfolding;  the grandfather and the almost adolescent grandson, and the story itself....

Then there is that main plot ... and like Rocky & Bullwinkle, with just enough pratfalls and simple humor for young children, enough angst and unrequited love for the teen crowd, and one liners and zingers so racy  that for most kids it goes right over their head ....

A heck of a movie ....
My moniker is my great grandfather's name. He served with the 2nd Florida Mounted Regiment in the Civil War. Afterward, he came home, packed his wife into a wagon, and was one of the first NorteAmericanos on the Frio River southwest of San Antonio ..... Kinda where present day Dilley is ...

No question. If I hadn't listened to some of my NCO's I'd have been killed at least 2-3 times...

I was stationed in Northern Spain; and tried to learn enough Spanish history that I would never be the 'ugly American' overseas ...

IMHO. Mandy Patinkin placed in the character of Inego Montoya the best and worst of Spanish society in pre gunpowder ages ... as I continue to watch the movie, I often compare his character's complexity with the nobles found in Don Quixote .....

That won't get you killed; what'll get you killed is, "No, Dear, that dress doesn't make you look fat; your fat makes you look fat."
